HIP-HOP BECOMING MORE PUNK ROCK?

Spotted an article on HypeBeast discussing how Hip-Hop might be becoming a bit more punk rock like.  The article also asks how is that so and what does it mean?  The article mentions artists such as Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar as references.  A very interesting read seeing that most would never view these two cultures as being similar nor the types of people that predominately listen to the genres.  Read the full article here.

The HypeBeast article you link to makes some valid points. One such point was that not everyone can brag about the lavish lifestyles of today’s hip hop stars. Rappers lose credibility when they’re initial public offerings talk about expensive cars and jewelry. Some of these “punk” rappers that are gaining notoriety don’t need to rap about their success. Their struggles connect more with fans. As a hip hop and punk fan, I love the new direction of hip hop.
